Onze vakantie. Our vacation.

Allereerst willen we iedereen bedanken voor de kerstkaarten en wensen die we van iedereen ontvangen hebben. Onze digitale kerstkaart heeft voor heel wat reactie's gezorgd. Voor degeen die heel verbolgen waren omdat we geld aan postzegels uitspaarden en wel voor een vermogen aan kerstverlichting besteden: Nee, dit was echt niet onze voortuin. We "leenden" de tuin alleen maar voor onze kerstfoto, het is in een straat dicht bij ons huis. Als je je huis versiert kan je het immers beter goed doen, toppunt vonden wij de verlichte engel boven op het dak.

De kerst- en nieuwjaarstijd was gevuld met gebruikelijk familiebezoek, lekker eten en fijn bijkletsen. Op 2 januari zijn we voor 6 dagen vertrokken naar de Veluwe, Beekbergen om precies te zijn. We vielen met onze neus in de boter, want het begon te sneeuwen daar en het was PRACHTIG!

We waren weer op tijd terug in Breda om de 82ste verjaardag van mijn vader te vieren. Er was echt ouderwets vol in huis, we waren echt op zoek naar alle beschikbare stoelen in huis. Pa en ma hebben echt enorm genoten van al die aandacht. Het was zo leuk om weer zo velen uit de familie te zien en bij te kletsen. Iedereen enorm bedankt dat jullie de tijd hebben genomen, het is een zeer geslaagde middag geworden!




First, we want to thank everyone for their christmas and new year's wishes. The digital christmas card that we sent out has stirred quite some reactions. For everyone who was thinking "they don't want to spend money on stamps in order to give to charity, but they waste an awful lot of money and energy on these christmas lights": No, this was NOT our own frontyard, we just "borrowed" this yard somewhere in our neigherhood for our christmas picture. And as long as these people want to decorate their house, they might as well do the best they can! And I think they did a good job, we especially lked the lighted angel on top of their roof.

The time over Christmas and New Year was spent with the usual family visits, goofd food and catching up with everybody. Starting Januari 2 we spend 6 days at the Veluwe, a beautiful area in the Netherlands with mational parks and lots of nature to enjoy. We were very lucky: it snowed while we were there, and the woods were SO BEAUTIFUL!

We were back in time in Breda to celebrate the 82nd birthday of my dad. A lot of people showed up, we were searching the house for more chairs. My mom and dad really enjoyed all the attention. I loved the possibility to catch up with family members that I have not seen on my earlier visits to the Netherlands. Thank you everyone, great of you to take out the time to visit, it was a marvellous afternoon!
